Meet the Principal

Mr. Jason Swann came to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Regional Catholic School in the summer of 2019 to serve as Principal.  Prior to OLMC, Mr. Swann served as Principal of Saint Mary Catholic School in Centralia, Illinois and as Vocations Coordinator for both Saint Mary, and Saint Lawrence Parishes.  Before serving as a principal in the Belleville Diocese, Mr. Swann served as the Dean of Enrollment Management and Admissions at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois, along with stints at Blackburn College (Carlinville, IL) as an Admission and Financial Aid Associate, and the Illinois Supreme Court (Springfield, IL) as a Law Library & Legal Research Assistant.  Mr. Swann has two sons, Cavin (19) and Ashtin (17), and is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Herrin) and Saint’s Mary & Joseph (Carlinville) parishes.

Mr. Swann has served as a board member for the Illinois Association of College Admission Counseling along with chairing several committees (Project Reach, Government Relations, First-Timers, etc.) within that organization.  Mr. Swann has also worked with Illinois Catholic Conference to advocate for education opportunities within the Catholic schools in the state of Illinois in areas of funding, disability services, and financial aid.  Mr. Swann enjoys reading, working out, running, and coaching.

“It is an absolute honor to serve this school, parish and community as the principal of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Regional Catholic School.  My hope and prayer is to build on the vision which Monsignor Schaefer has put into motion by growing and strengthening OLMC’s position as a cornerstone in the ministry of Catholic education in Southern Illinois, while continuing to build Disciples of Christ.”
