Established
in 1912, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, Pre-K through 8th Grade,
extends the Catholic traditions of our parish and surrounding
parishes by serving our students and their families. We exist to
enable students to become knowledgeable and active in their faith,
to educate students academically, and to develop strong moral
character. We share the responsibility of educating the whole child
through faculty commitment, family involvement, and parish support.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School provides religious formation, academic excellence, and a social consciousness within a disciplined, caring, and safe environment. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School is a Catholic School, whose faculty and staff members work as co-partners with families and the entire Parish striving to empower students to become more living conscious and active in their faith. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School is accredited by the both the Illinois State Board of Education and the Belleville Diocese. All teaching faculty are certified teachers in the state of Illinois.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School focuses on proclaiming the Good News of the risen Lord through teaching Catholic Doctrine, building Christian Community, and helping students acquire skills, virtues and habits required for effective service to others. The philosophy of our school is anchored in the belief that we are all created in the image of God and that we will find peace in knowing, loving and serving God and each other. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School is dedicated to maintaining high academic standards while educating students in an atmosphere of peace, justice, community and respect for others. The courses of study allow the students the opportunity to acquire skills, knowledge, intellectual methods, and strong moral and social attitudes. It is our belief that focusing on these areas will promote the foundation of our students as Christians and high achieving citizens which allows them to take their place as active, responsible members of our world.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School also embraces the need to develop technology literate students to be prepared to succeed our technological society. We have a state-of-art, 30 station computer lab that all students utilize each week, a mobile lab of Netbooks that is utilized in 6-8 grades, all classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and each teacher has an updated teacher demonstration station.
