OLMC Library/Media Center

library 1

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Library/Media Center has a collection of over 9,000 books and Audio Visual Materials.  The entire library was renovated in the summer of 2011.  Furniture and walls were painted, chairs recovered, and all library materials were automated with a new state of the art software program, which allows them to be checked out by simply scanning a barcode label on the back cover.  At this time, new labels were generated for all materials according to the Dewey Decimal System, and all soft-coder books were wrapped in clear plastic covers.  The labels include pertinent information for both students and teachers for the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program

The library is located on the upper floor of the elementary school building. New materials are purchased twice annually from funds generated from the Box Tops for Education Program. OLMC maintains a well-rounded collection of material, with both classic and comtemporary books available for checkout.  Students are able to check out materials for two weeks at a time, but may renew as many times as desired.  Future plans include adding a mini computer lab to the library.

Volunteers are encouraged to help re-shelve books, take classes to the library, and process new books, etc. Contact Mary Belanger at (618) 997-9040 for more information.
